Admirals

I honestly can't wait for next week.

The Milwaukee Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, are in the Calder Cup finals, and tonight we find out who our opponent will be.

If you haven't already poked around at my website yet, you'd see that I'm the keeper of the Original Unofficial Milwaukee Admirals homepage.

It was about ten years ago in April that I started up the website, way back in my days on my original ISP, Exec-PC. Back then it was a celebration of all things IHL, as I had also created the IHL Frequently Asked Questions list for the IHL newsgroup and mailing list. (Boy, that dates me, doesn't it?)

Anyways, this is the first time the team has been in the finals since I started following the team closely (which was back in 1983). It's also only the fourth time in the team's existence as a league franchise that they've been in any kind of league championship series.

Unfortunately, they've only won once in all those years, and that was back in 1976. Back then, Phil Wittliff was on the ice playing and not up in the press box as the GM.

The finals berth has actually motivated me to update my Admirals page - almost to the point where I'm updating it on a daily basis. Which is scary for me, Mr. Getaroundtoit.

Their performance is going to be forefront on my mind this week, so I'll probably be posting more about them.

First Entry

Everything begins with a single step. And it just so happens this is my first foray into the world of Blogging.

The best thing, in my mind, is that I'm not limited to just one subject (say, hockey or baseball or uniforms or anything). If I want to rant about how the wind noise is driving me crazy in my PT Cruiser, I can.

Anyways, as soon as I get things together and figure out how this works, I'll put down the basics of who I am and why you should care at all.
