Some Random Thoughts
I never enjoy looking out my front window and seeing the street in front of my place turning into a river. I especially don't like it when it's the second time I've seen it happen in the last three years.
Anyways, on to other things:
Anyways, on to other things:
- The surrender flag was flown months ago in the Brewers nation. We're all just spending the last week and a half of this month trying to figure how Doug Melvin is going to screw up with the Prince Fielder issue. That and figuring out what dirt Ken Macha has on him that he's still employed as a manager.
- Two new websites to peruse: Formspring.me, which is an internet Q&A site along the lines of Twitter and Facebook - except it's all about asking questions (theoretically, anyways). Also, there's Scribd, which is where you can publish pretty much anything as an online digital download. Feel free to check out the stuff I've put up there.
- Remind me again why I bother to keep my Yahoo mail account? Yes, I've had the thing since Yahoo first delved into the internet portal business back in the mid-90's, but I'm not kidding about my update: 99.58% spam since 1996. I get practically nothing in the way of legitimate e-mail through that account.
- The merger between the two Pewaukees is all but dead after the village rejected the creation of a street utility district that was a key part of the merger. That idea of "The City of Pewaukee Lake" is looking better and better every day, IMNSHO.
- I'm currently reading one of the three most depressing books of the Bible - the book of Judges. (The other two, at least in my opinion, are Job and Ecclesiastes.) I didn't know that Saul wasn't the first person who was "named" the king of Israel. (Points to you if you know who it was, by the way.)
- Ironic moment of the month: Armando Galarraga, the Tigers pitcher who lost his perfect game/no-hit bid because of a mistake made by umpire Jim Joyce, was sent down to Toledo of the International League earlier this month. He's back up in Detroit due to injuries, but how lousy do you think the news of Galarraga's demotion made Joyce feel?
- R.I.P., Ralph Houk. As far as I know, he and I were not related, but it always made me feel great when I heard his name being mentioned in baseball. What's sad is that he spent most of his career as Yogi Berra's backup catcher, when he could have started with practically any other major league team. He also lost some time due to World War II, so he really could have been a great player; he made up for it by being a halfway decent manager (904 wins, three pennants, two World Championships).
